Clickity Clack ("we", "us", "our") operates clickityclack.ca, a dog walking marketplace connecting dog owners with walkers across Canada. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We collect information you provide when creating an account: name, email address, phone number, and role (owner or walker). Walkers provide additional information including service area location, rates, availability, and banking details (processed by Stripe). During walks, we collect GPS location data, walk duration, photos, and notes to generate walk reports.
Your information is used to: operate the marketplace and match owners with walkers, process payments through Stripe, generate walk reports with GPS tracking and photos, send transactional emails (verification, password resets, booking confirmations), and improve our services. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
GPS tracking is active during walks to provide real-time location updates to dog owners and to generate walk route reports. GPS data is stored for 60 days, after which it is automatically deleted. Location data used for walker service area matching is approximate and stored as long as your account is active.
Walk photos are uploaded to secure cloud storage (Amazon S3, ca-central-1 region) and automatically deleted after 60 days. Photos are visible to both the walker and owner associated with the walk.
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled. Financial transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
Your data is stored on servers located in Canada (AWS ca-central-1, Montreal). We use encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and secure authentication (JWT tokens with bcrypt password hashing). Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
Active account data is retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, personal information is anonymized in accordance with PIPEDA requirements. Walk photos and GPS data are automatically purged after 60 days. Financial records are retained for 7 years per CRA requirements.
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to: access your personal information, request corrections to inaccurate data, withdraw consent for data collection (which may limit service functionality), and request account deletion. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@clickityclack.ca.
We use the following third-party services: Stripe (payment processing), Amazon Web Services (hosting and storage), MapTiler (map display), and Environment Canada (weather data). Each service has its own privacy policy governing data handling.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
